Why do you need to start early to save for retirement?

There’s only so much time to build your nest egg for retirement. To put this in to perspective, here is an example we like to use with our clients. It goes like this…

road.pngIf you had 60 km to travel and one hour to get there, how fast would you drive?

That’s right! 60 km an hour.

If you had to leave 10 minutes later…

You must drive 72 km an hour

Leave 20 minutes later…

You must drive 90 km an hour.

The later you start saving for retirement, the more you have to accelerate your rate of savings.

Does that bother you?

Give yourself enough time.
